If you are like the Danger Island Models team, you grew up watching vintage serials includingBuck Rogers, Undersea Kingdom, Commando Cody, and more on Saturday and Sunday morning television. So why not take a nostalgic trip back to 1936 with Danger Island Models as we proudly introduce our first two-figure kit, entitled “Yesterday’s heroes,” featuring actor and Olympic swimming champion, Larry “Buster” Crabbe and Flash Gordon, and Jean Rogers as the damsel in distress, Dale Arden. The figures stand atop an art deco based ornamented with astral maps. The kit captures the spirit of the great, now public domain Universal Studios serial,Flash Gordon, and its first sequel,Flash Gordon’s Trip to Mars.There was also a third serial,Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe.
This is a truly special kit featuring the quintessential space opera couple, Flash and Dale, in a protective embrace. sculpted by the incomparable Mike Cusanelli. Flash comes with two options for his right hand, one with fingers outstretched, and one holding a ray gun.
The kit comes with detailed instruction sheet designed by “Parts Pit” Mike Borthwick, a full-color booklet featuring commentary by Danger Island Models’ co-founder, Steve Smith, and color art by the late Thomas Haller Buchanan, and with box art by Douglas Klauba (https://douglasklauba.com).
