  • Derek Stenning BIo

Trained as a classical animator, Derek has been active as a commercial artist for over 25 years. After a short stint in animation, he jumped over to the game development field, where he has been working as a concept artist ever since. Over the years he has worked on large projects for companies like Nintendo, Microsoft and Marvel Entertainment, to name a few. As a freelance illustrator his work has been featured in book and magazine publishing, phone/tablet apps, and more recently, a board game project with French publisher Matagot. All of that aside, he is mostly know for his personal project "The EK Series”, an ever growing series of paintings that display weathered cosmonauts inhabiting a hazy void located somewhere between hope and despair. This work has been showcased in many international publications and was translated into a successful line of model kits by the now defunct Industria Mechanika. His two art books, Born In Concrete: The EK Series, and EK2 - The Lost Years are available from Design Studio Press.
